NER Ulysses Reading Series: National Poetry Month Edition - April 17, 7 PM, Humanities House, Middlebury College

Mary Heather Noble became the office manager at NER in August 2023. She is an environmental scientist and writer whose work is inspired by social and environmental issues. Mary Heather began her career as an environmental regulator before pausing to raise a family and pursue creative writing. She received her MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the Stonecoast MFA in Creative Writing with the University of Southern Maine. Her writing has been honored with three Pushcart Prize nominations, the Editor’s Prize in Creative Nonfiction’s Learning from Nature issue, First Prize in Creative Nonfiction’s The Human Face of Sustainability Contest, and as a finalist in Bellingham Review’s 2016 Annie Dillard Award in Creative Nonfiction. Her work was also recognized with the 2014 Siskiyou Prize for New Environmental Literature. 

Mary Heather is a contributing editor with the Longridge Review online journal and has published work in AboutPlace Journal, Barrelhouse, The FEM, Fourth Genre, Hippocampus MagazineTrue Story, and Utne Reader, among others.  She lives with her family in Middlebury, where she serves on the Addison County School District Board and the Community Relations Committee of Porter Medical Center’s Community Development Council.
